Whoa!

Biggest egg ever.

Can't even close the carton.  I wish I knew which chicken it came from.

That reminds me of the eggs I have started to buy from a guy with some free roaming chickens in a town not far from my city. I buy a doz or two and no 2 sizes are the same. I'm used to buying 'large' from the supermarket but don't know quite what to do with these farmer eggs when it comes time to do recipes :o) I think I would keep that large one for Saturday breakfast.

I use the eggs the same as the uniform sized ones from the store and haven't had a problem yet. I used that big one for scrambled eggs. It had a double yolk.

Ooooh, I had a double yolk one from the farmer too. I showed it to the kids.
Question: have you ever opened up an egg to find an embryonic chicken inside? I had a friend in high school who swore her and her mother opened one up and saw that. Almost enough to turn someone off eggs for eternity :(

Yuck. Finding a partially developed chick in an egg would defintely turn my stomach. Luckily, that has not happened to me. Since I pick up my eggs every day, even if my hens were inclined to brood, which they aren't, there wouldn't be time for a chick to start developing.
