I saw Harry messing with something and looked over to see what he was doing. At first, I thought he had a mole and I started to pass on by. Then I thought, "Wow, that's a big RAT!" But then I realized it was a baby possum. So, my dilema was...let Harry torture it to death or save it. Of course, I had to save it. Now I have no idea what to do. It's a baby!

first do some research on baby possums, maybe even baby possum rescue. other than that.... release it somewhere where harry wont find it...
I stashed it in the garage while I researched baby possum diets. Turns out they eat just about anything. But I decided I'd rather release it and see what happens. I put it in the crook of a tree with a stawberry for nourishment (I read that they like over ripe fruit). When I came back by the tree, it was crawling down, so I followed it. It seemed to know where it was going and with it's faltering baby steps, it crawled along, sniffing at the base of various trees until it decided which one to climb (for reasons known only to itself) and then it climbed up. I watched it for a while, then decided that it could take care of itself and would be safe from Harry up there.
Good, sounds like it picked a faverable tree :). I was gonna say anything too but i didn't honestly know so i went with my above comment :P
We had one of those in our tree a couple of years ago..it was a baby too..we watched it climb around the tree and then eventually disappear. It was early in the morning and since they are night- dwellers, we figured that was having a late-night on the town..I guess they are so little that they haven't figured out that they gotta be well hidden by the time the sun comes up :o)
